Shiatsu Massage
Shiatsu, also known as acupressure, is a finger pressure massage technique that is sometimes confused with acupuncture. The therapist applies pressure with his thumbs, finger, and palms to specific areas of the client’s body that have been determined during an assessment period prior to the massage session. Massage techniques like tapping, squeezing, rubbing, and applied pressure are applied along 10 meridians (paths of ki flow) to unblock energy blockages and reintroduce the optimal flow of life force energy (ki).
Treatments are done on a comfortable massage table. The client is comfortably clothed, lying on their back and stomach. Session lasts 30 to 60 minutes.
Shiatsu massage alleviates: headaches, backaches, insomnia, knee pain, arthritis, asthma, emotional balancing, stomachaches/indigestion.
Shiatsu massage benefits: deep muscle and tissue relaxation, stress reduction and management, release of toxins from the body, dis-ease prevention, increased flexibility, improved blood circulation, reduction of blood pressure, ease mental anxieties, calm nervousness, increase mental and spiritual awareness.
Therapist: Lee Schweitzer, trained by Mt. Nittany Institute of Health.
Rate: $60 for 60 minutes or $39 for 30 minutes.
