What Happens
When I Arrive for My Massage?

You may want to arrive early and relax by the fire in chilly months; in warm months you may relax on the deck or porch. There are complementary beverages and snacks available. Experience the Woods Spa’s ambiance of serenity, quietness, and peacefulness. Watch the birds and listen to the fountains. Enjoy, for a nominal charge, the infrared sauna and/or the outdoor hot tub before your scheduled session.

On your initial visit, you will be asked to complete an intake form to acquaint us with your needs, medical history, likes, and dislikes.

You are escorted to a treatment room where you are instructed to remove as much clothing as you feel comfortable and lie on a treatment table face up under a flannel sheet. The table and room are heated to your comfort. Soft music and a relaxing fountain add to your comfort.

The therapist will knock on the door before entering and then discuss the massage process, answering any questions you may have.

You are always draped for comfort during the massage. Only that part of your body being massaged is uncovered. Your chest (woman) and pelvic area are draped and not massaged.

During the massage, the therapists will check on your comfort. You lie face up for the first half of your massage and face down for the second half of the massage. A face cradle and bolsters are provided for your comfort.

If you have special needs, please inform the therapists.
Talking during the session is limited so you can fully relax into the massage, receiving all its benefits. Creams and lotions are applied for your comfort.

At the end of the massage the therapist will leave the room and you may dress.

After you leave the room you will be offered water, or other beverages, a flower, and information about the Woods Spa services and special events.
